Actor Vijay and Nayanthara were announced as the star brand ambassadors for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricket team. They pledged support to the local Indian Premier League (IPL) team and they were expected to turn up at the grounds where the CSK played their matches. Interestingly, Vijay turned up for the first match at Chepauk when CSK played Mumbai Indians.

However the absence of Nayanthara let lose speculation that she would be axed from her new role. Since Nayanthara was unable to meet the commitments of regular match appearances, the team has now decided to go with a single star ambassador and from now Vijay will be the sole brand ambassador for CSK.
