It is the season of remakes and remixes in Kollywood it should be said. Palaivana Solai, a popular Tamil film of yesteryear, carrying a revolutionary theme, is being remade now.
The film, directed by Robert Rajasekar in 1981, featured Rajeev, Janakaraj, Vagai Chandrasekhar, Thyagu and Suhasini in the cast.
Nithin Sathya has been cast to do the role enacted by Chandrasekar in the original. Dindigul Sarathy-fame Karthika is touted to play Suhasini’s role in the new version that will be directed by K S Dayalan, who had earlier rendered films like Kannukku Kannaga.
Says Dayalan, ‘a fresh screenplay is being written based on the original story. We believe that the film will surely woo the present generation. The movie will go to the floors on 19 February.’
To be jointly produced by Vadivel of Maruthi films (producers of the original) and Radhakrishnan, the film will have musical score by Bobby of Sollamaley-fame. Popular songs from the original Megamay megamay... and Aaalanalum aalu... will be remixed for the new version, it is said.
