Asatha Povathu Yaaru fame Kovai Ramesh passed away
Tamil
Mimicry artist Kovai Ramesh also known as Ramesh Kumar, who is known to leave
his audience in fits of laughter, had them in tears on Saturday, he died in a
road accident on his 40th birthday. Coincidentally, it was the birthday of
driver Karthikeyan who also died in the fatal accident.
Kovai Ramesh started his career as a mimicry artist performing at stage shows.
His acquaintance with Kovai Guna and Kovai Ashok lead him to the talent show
‘Kalakkapovadhu Yaaru’ telecast by Vijay TV in 2005. Since then there was no
looking back for this talented artist who captivated the viewers by dressing in
female attire and imitating yesteryear heroines’ voices.
Well, I gotta say that I am a big fan of him when it comes to mimicking
actresses body language as well as their voices, such as those of Oorvasi,
Banupriya, Banumathi, Saroja Devi and so on. Those were classic! Unfortunately,
sad to say that he is no longer alive now. Although I rarely watch Asatha
Povathu Yaaru nowadays as how I used to do last time, he would always be one of
my top picks from that show. May his soul rest in peace.
